Edible Wild Woodland Mushrooms found in the West of Ireland
EDIBLE FOREST MUSHROOMS
Our knowledge and experience with edible mushrooms is long standing and
is rooted in the north Italian forest culture.
Woodland Care between 2008 and 2010 have been involved with a research
project coordinated by the University of Limerick. The project is exploring
the commercial potential of edible fungi in Ireland both as wild produce
from mature woodland and cultivated on small diameter logs in broadleaf
plantations.
Through this we have carried some independent commercial trials of
our own. Following the success of these trials we are now organizing collection
and supply of selected fresh gourmet forest mushroom within the mid west
region.. If you are interested in regular supply of fresh forest mushrooms
you can contact us.
Due to recurrent demand Woodland Care is now organising( in the mid west) courses in wild mushroom foraging and identification . A number of dates have been arranged for autumn 2011 at the IRISH SEED SAVERS Centre in County Clare ( see www.irishseedsavers.ie for programme and booking details) and at other venues in the Clare/ Galway area. For details please contact us by phone or email.
